Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-
being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, a well as the possibility
of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, Protected and fulfilled.

The Naz Foundation International (NFI) is an international non-governmental organisation, thats primary aim is to improve the sexual health and human rights of marginalised males who have sex with males, their partners and families in South Asia and else where.        Know more...

Why we must work with MSM and HIV prevention, care and support
  • It’s the right thing to do on humanitarian grounds
  • It’s the right thing to do epidemiologically
  • It’s the right thing to do from a public health perspective

Males who have sex with males (MSM), whether their self-identity is linked to their same sex behaviour or not, have the right to be free from violence and harassment; the right to be treated with dignity and respect; the right to be treated as full citizens in their country; the right to be free from HIV/AIDS; and MSM who are infected with HIV have the right to access appropriate care and treatment equally with everyone else, regardless of how the virus was transmitted to them.

Please support our work

NFI needs your support in its programme providing technical assistance to our country partners to support local MSM groups, organisations and  networks to develop their own sexual health services, and advocating on their behalf to increase investment and scale up coverage of such services, bridge knowledge gaps and challenge stigma, discrimination and social exclusion.

A small amount of money can go a long way in providing knowledge, skills and resources to those most at risk of HIV infection, enabling them to develop space spaces for affected and infected MSM to meet and support those most in need.

In the beginning of 2010 I was approached by Equal Rights Trust to write an article on homosexuality and Islam with the aim of bringing out the alternative interpretations of homosexuality in Islam and to put into perspective some of the Quranic verses and Hadith that is often quoted to condemn non-heterosexuals.  The article makes a theological argument and it provides simple explanations on some of the Islamic texts that seem to be speaking of homosexuality.

The article is a source of inspiration and guidance for those who identify as Muslim and who perceive themselves to fall outside of the heterosexual norm.  It also provides Islamic scholars and heterosexual Muslims an opportunity to engage differently with Islamic texts regarding other sexualities and gender.

Envisioning Global LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) Human Rights – will examine locations where challenges to criminalization are underway or recently achieved (India, 2009) and research and document the complex processes underlying these cultures of resistance. Further, we will research and document conditions affecting LGBT people, and Human Rights and LGBT organizations. Our project is an innovative proposal that brings together community partners, documentary filmmakers and an interdisciplinary network of scholars to undertake a project of applied research, research/creation, skills exchange, capacity enhancement and knowledge transfer. To accomplish these goals, our research team and community partners in Toronto will partner with LGBT and human rights groups based in three regions: The Caribbean (Jamaica, St. Lucia and Belize); Africa (South Africa, Uganda and Botswana); and South and South-East Asia (India, Malaysia, and Singapore).
